Savills Barbers

Variety Is the Spice of Life ( So They Say!)

It is sometimes only when you take a brief and rare ‘breather’ to reflect that you realise how much can actually be crammed into a couple of months that you appreciate the craziness of it all. But the best bit is that you also meet some truly crazy , brilliant people along the way…..

February saw Savills join Wahl Street at Pro Hair Live in Manchester at the invitation of Mr. Simon Shaw. We were honoured for this opportunity to stand proud alongside some of the industries great and innovative brands. Reuzel, Apothecary 87, Mr. Barber, Retro Belmont, CW Hair Supplies and of course the king of all clipper brands, Wahl themselves, all working in synergy, having a great time and mingling with the most enthusiastic and passionate representatives from the barbering community. Next stops on the exhibition calendar will be Barber UK at the NEC next month and of course Barber Connect at Celtic Manor in June. We can’t wait  and hope to see you all there!

From Manchester to Naples. Not too different ha ha! I was invited by Bespoke Italia to deliver a seminar followed by training courses on Savills advanced barbering techniques. What an awesome bunch of people! My self and my trusty co-educator Neil Tomlinson were blown away by the hospitality shown by Trudy and her team, from a beautiful apartment to stay in the bay of Naples to freshly caught Italian seafood dishes cooked for us, they couldn’t do enough  for us. The guys to whom we delivered  the training too were fantastic. So much enthusiasm and warmth. We could very much get used to our visits to bella Italia!

During March the Savills shop was a stopping off point for Atlantic Record’s legendary singer/songwriter Foy Vance on his Wild Detour. Around 50 people packed Savills to hear Foy sing and play acoustic songs from his eagerly awaited new album, “The Wild Swan” which is deeply rooted in the rich musical history and aesthetic of the Southern United States. It was an amazing night and a great opportunity to put on a show for some of our regular customers who registered interest in attending via our social media posts.

While writing this I am also musing on yesterday’s journey down to London to Ted’s Grooming Rooms who hosted the launch of the highly anticipated Wahl Legend and Cordless Magic Clip clippers. I love London and it is always a great opportunity to pop in to see my good Pal Frank Rimmer at his brand new barber ship in Shoreditch. It was then onto Ted’s for the main event during which I managed to put names to faces of some great people who I have ofter spoken with or heard of but never had the privilege to meet.

I’ll also now let you all into a secret. Alongside all of this and for the past two years myself and my team have been diligently working in a top secret (haha,  not really) line up of hair preparations that we are now finalising. Its been a slow process but we have been fastidious in terms of the quality of the product and branding.  We are aware that  there are a lot of great products out there at the moment, so we have been particular that ours will represent amazing performance,  aesthetics and value for money. I am so proud of whats we now have as the finished product.  Keep reading my blog and sometime soon I may even show you a sneak preview! Until next time…
